This petite dowry bag began its life as a chakla, a square of exquisite embroidery created by women of the Rabari semi-nomadic tribal group living primarily in western India. The trousseau would have been filled with gifts for a bride at the time of marriage and features dense handwork, inset mirrors, and meticulous applique work.
